What To Expect When Worshipping With Us

Attire

We welcome you as you are. Some people dress up and some are casual. We want to be like Jesus and build a Christian relationship with you either way.

Parking

FBC is downtown, but we have two free parking lots for use during church functions. Fayetteville city parking is free on Sundays. If you are visiting FBC during the week, please utilize our free lots!

Paved Lot • On the Corner of Old Street and Burgess Street

Grass Lot • On the Corner of Maiden Lane and Anderson Street

Child Care

Youth, children and babies are always welcome! There is a nursery provided during worship services. Visit our Children’s Ministry or Youth Ministry pages to read about the children and youth programs FBC offers.

First Baptist Church Music Ministry

Sanctuary Choir

A mixed ensemble in both voice and age, ranging from youth to senior adults. The Sanctuary Choir is the primary choir for worship, providing anthems, responses and offertories using a wide variety of musical content. Our Sanctuary Choir also sings for special programs and cantatas.

Youth Praise Band

During Youth Group meetings, our youth “make a joyful noise to the Lord!” Youth do not need to know how to play an instrument or read music. Everyone learns very simple techniques to allow them to play a variety of instruments and sing a variety of praise and worship songs.

Sunday School at First Baptist Church

At First Baptist, Sunday School is a vital part of the worship experience. From toddlers to senior adults, there’s a Sunday School class for everyone! Sunday School at FBC provides a small group setting that allows you to become involved in discussing your faith as you grow in your relationship with Christ. Sunday School starts at 9:45 a.m. We hope you’ll join us in one of the classes this week!

Children Ages 4 - Kindergarten

Leona James

We use a creative, imaginative approach to Christian Formation called “Godly Play” in which we experience the Bible, the story of God’s love for God’s People, using a Montessori based curriculum of spiritual practice. Our goal is to nurture our children to larger dimensions of belief and faith by exploring the mystery of God’s presence in our lives through story, wondering, and play.

Children 1st - 3rd Grade

Kathy T. Olsen

From Scripture and through activities, we study the accounts of what has happened and what is to come in terms that this age group can understand. Our goal is to show students how to care for others in a Christ-like way.

Children 4th - 5th Grade

Allene Horne

The Bible is our source and guide. Children are encouraged to ask questions as we learn Scriptures together. Our goal is to help children know, love, and follow Jesus.

Youth 6th - 12th Grade

Susan Taylor

Our goal is to help young people learn to apply God’s Word to their daily lives. We use a guided discussion format, along with various activities, led by the teacher.

Sacred Shards Class

Rev. Rob James, Jason Brown

Adults learn ‘Tiffany Style’ Stained Glass techniques and work on a shared project together while discussing theological and Biblical questions that the class members submit.

The Lighthouse

Sharon Duke

Welcome all to the Lighthouse Sunday school class where the Bible is the testbook. We are doing a three-year study of the Word beginning with the book of Genesis through to the book of the Revelation. Our meeting time is Sunday 9:45 AM in the multipurpose room. Our purpose is to know God and His will for our lives, to be a light in a darkened world.

Fidelis Multi Generational Class

Elizabeth Loftis, Helen Carter

This class is for women and men including married couples. Our lessons include class discussions and presentations from the teacher. Our goal is to provide fellowship as well as Bible study.

Ladies’ Class

Deborah O’Neil

This class is for adult ladies who do not have a male companion to join them. It is primarily lecture driven, but is open to discussion. Our goal is to present the lesson in its context with the Bible background and to apply it to class members’ lives today.
